S/4HANA: Into the smart lab
When SAP announced its next generation ERP solution S/4HANA in 2015, it was hailed by CEO Bill McDermott as the ‘biggest launch in 23 years, if not in the entire history of the company’. But there’s still confusion about the technology among our SAPience.be members. At TECHday 2018, we’ll bring clarity.
Rows and columns
Simply put, SAP HANA is a smart data labyrinth, a sophisticated in-memory database architecture allowing for faster, real-time analytics and data processing. Data reside in main memory (RAM) and no longer on a hard disk. And unlike classical row-based databases, it stores these data in rows as well as columns. Exactly this combination produces the speed, flexibility, and performance we all need in a digital world.
In the digitally economy, ‘live business’ and thus real-time analytics become more important than ever. SAP’s business suite S/4HANA, that runs on top of SAP HANA, combines standard SAP ERP functionality and industry features in one modern software stack. It is characterized by simplifications, massively increased efficiency, and compelling features such as planning and simulation options in many conventional transactions.
SAP S/4HANA signals a move away from the transactional system that merely records data toward giving end users active decision support in real time that is based on data from both internal and external sources.
At TECHday 2018 we’ll show countless gates to enter your own data maze with S/4HANA, and how you avoid getting lost.
Several ways through the maze
What do our members struggle with in the area of SAP HANA and S/4HANA? Or what are they curious about? We asked it themselves, during previous SAPience.be events. A brief overview:
- SAP HANA transition scenarios & cases
- Business analytics powered by SAP HANA
- Managing Big Data with S/4HANA
- Migration of SAP ECC to S/HANA: myths vs. reality
- Collection, dispute & credit management in S/4HANA
- S/4HANA in specific domains: HR, public service, finance, maintenance, security, …
- Integration of S/4HANA with other applications
Based on these insights, we will soon determine our traditional ‘tracks’ – or better ‘Maze Gates’ in this case. To be continued.
